Nebraska: Appeal seeks to overturn Nikko Jenkins' death sentence on grounds of severe mental illness

The Nebraska Supreme Court heard arguments Thursday that condemned killer Nikko Jenkins' convictions should be overturned because of his severe mental illness. Douglas County Public Defender Tom Riley said the lower court erred when ruling that Jenkins was competent to stand trial, competent to defend himself at trial and able to plead no contest to the charges against him.
